SEEK GOD AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS ALL OUR DAYS / DEUTERONOMY 6:20-25
a. Remember we were slaves and God becomes our deliverer (Deuteronomy 6:20-22)
20 “When your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What do the testimonies and the statutes and the judgments mean which Yahweh our God commanded you?’
21 then you shall say to your son, ‘We were slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt, and Yahweh brought us from Egypt with a strong hand.
22 ‘Moreover, Yahweh showed great and calamitous signs and wonders before our eyes against Egypt, Pharaoh, and all his household;
b. Seek the promises of God our redemption to heaven all our days (Deuteronomy 6: 23)
23 but He brought us out from there in order to bring us in, to give us the land which He had sworn to our fathers.’
Always remember God’s covenant to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Genesis 12, 15, 17):
God will bless you
God will give you the land
God multiply or increase your number
God will make you a great nation
God will make you His own people
God will be your God
c. Seek to worship God all our days (Deuteronomy 6:24)
24 “So Yahweh commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear Yahweh our God for our good all our days and for our survival, as it is today.
d. Seek to be right with God all our days (Deuteronomy 6:25)
25 “And it will be righteousness for us if we are careful to do all this commandment before Yahweh our God, just as He commanded us.”

GOD’S PURPOSE FOR THE FAMILY: LOVE GOD AND PROCLAIM CHRIST / DEUTERONOMY 6:4-9
1) We must love God with our whole being (Deuteronomy 6:4-6)
4 “Hear, O Israel! Yahweh is our God, Yahweh is one!
5 “You shall love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
6 “These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart.
“McBride observed: “The three parts of Deut 6:5: lēbāb (heart), nepeš (soul or life), and meʾōd (muchness) rather than signifying different spheres of Biblical psychology seem to be semantically concentric. They were chosen to reinforce the absolute singularity of personal devotion to God. Thus lēbāb (HEART) denotes the intention or will of the whole man; nepeš (SOUL) means the whole self, a unity of flesh, will, and vitality; and mĕʾōd (MIGHT) accents the superlative degree of total commitment to Yahweh.” Kaiser, W. C. (1999). 1134 מאד. In R. L. Harris, G. L. Archer Jr., & B. K. Waltke (Eds.), Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament (electronic ed., p. 487). Moody Press.
Jesus said in Mark 12:30 “and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’”
2) We must proclaim God with all of our strength (Deuteronomy 6:7-9)
7 “You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.
8 “You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as phylacteries between your eyes.
9 “You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
What should be our life purpose and Christian worldview as we live and possess the land (2026):
1. We are commanded to love God and to proclaim the love of God in our homes and outside our homes. God and His words must be the centre of our lives.
2. Take every opportunity to talk about the words of Christ. In your homes, when they wake up at your dining table and in your lounges, before they go to sleep.
3. Take the words of God personally and passionately.
What should be our life purpose and Christian worldview as we live and possess the land (2026):
4. Take it seriously. It is your personal devotion and commitment to keep God’s word in your heart, mind and might.
5. Take the words of God as your life purpose. Your life objective and your life mission. There is no greater purpose in life but to love and proclaim (teach) God’s Word in your marriage, family and to the world.
6. Take the words of God in season and out of season. In bad times or in good times. Never abandon God’s word.
Proverbs 7:1–3
“1 My son, keep my words And treasure my commandments within you. 2 Keep my commandments and live, And my law as the apple of your eye. 3 Bind them on your fingers; Write them on the tablet of your heart.”

WE SHOULD NEVER FORGET OUR FAITHFUL REDEEMER / DEUTERONOMY 6:10-15
1. Believe the promises and works of our Faithful Redeemer (Deuteronomy 6:10-12)
10 “Then it will be, when Yahweh your God brings you into the land which He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you, great and good cities which you did not build,
11 and houses full of all good things which you did not fill, and hewn cisterns which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant, and you will eat and be satisfied,
12 then beware, lest you forget Yahweh who brought you from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
2. Allow God to be your Lord and Master of your life (Deuteronomy 10:13)
13 “Yahweh your God you shall fear; and Him you shall serve; and by His name you shall swear.
3. Delight yourselves to please God because God is a Jealous God (Deuteronomy 6:14-15)
14 “You shall not walk after other gods, any of the gods of the peoples who surround you,
15 for Yahweh your God in the midst of you is a jealous God—lest the anger of Yahweh your God be kindled against you, and He destroy you from the face of the earth.”
As followers of Christ, remember the promises and works of our Faithful Redeemer. Let us allow God to be Lord and Master of our lives always. God should always be in the centre of our hearts, souls, minds, and might.
As followers of Christ, remember there is only one God. No pantheon (gods) exists in the universe. There is only one God in three persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. Only worship Him alone.
As followers of Christ, always remember God is a Jealous God. We should delight ourselves to please God because God is a jealous God. He does not want any gods besides Him. It is unacceptable and displeasing and disrespectful and dishonourable and wicked and sinful to exchange God for the idols of this world. He wants loyalty and faithfulness to one God alone. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

HOW TO SUCCEED IN FOLLOWING CHRIST / DEUTERONOMY 6:1-3
1) We need to keep God’s Word in our hearts (Deuteronomy 6:1)
“1 “Now this is the commandment, the statutes and the judgments, which Yahweh your God has commanded me to teach you, that you might do it in the land where you are going over to possess it,
2) We need to fear God continually (Deuteronomy 6:2)
2 so that you and your son and your grandson might fear Yahweh your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I am commanding you, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged.
3) We need to carefully follow God’s commands (Deuteronomy 6:3)
3 “O Israel, you shall listen and be careful to do it, that it may be well with you and that you may multiply greatly, just as Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.”

LET US FORGIVE ONE ANOTHER / MATTHEW 18:21-35
1) Forgive without limit (Matthew 18:1-2)
“21 Then Peter came and said to Him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.
2) Always show compassion (Matthew 18:23-27)
23 “For this reason the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his slaves. 24 “When he had begun to settle them, one who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him. 25 “But since he adid not have the means to repay, his lord commanded him to be sold, along with his wife and children and all that he had, and repayment to be made. 26 “Therefore, the slave fell to the ground and was prostrating himself before him, saying, ‘Have patience with me and I will repay you everything.’ 27 “And feeling compassion, the lord of that slave released him and forgave him the debt.
3) Do not be a wicked person (Matthew 18:28-30)
28 “But that slave went out and found one of his fellow slaves who owed him one hundred denarii; and he seized him and began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay back what you owe.’
29 “So, his fellow slave fell to the ground and was pleading with him, saying, ‘Have patience with me and I will repay you.’
30 “But he was unwilling and went and threw him in prison until he should pay back what was owed.
4) Expect discipline from your tormentors
(Matthew 18:31-35)
31 “So, when his fellow slaves saw what had happened, they were deeply grieved and came and reported to their lord all that had happened. 32 “Then summoning him, his lord said to him, ‘You wicked slave, I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. 33 ‘Should you not also have had mercy on your fellow slave, in the same way that I had mercy on you?’ 34 “And his lord, moved with anger, handed him over to the torturers until he should repay all that was owed him. 35 “My heavenly Father will also do the same to you, if each of you does not forgive his brother from your hearts.”
“An anonymous saint of long ago wrote, Revenge, indeed, seems often sweet to men; but, oh, it is only sugared poison, only sweetened gall, and its aftertaste is bitter as hell. Forgiving, enduring love alone is sweet and blissful; it enjoys peace and the consciousness of God’s favour. By forgiving, it gives away and annihilates the injury. It treats the injurer as if he had not injured, and therefore feels no more the smart and sting that he had inflicted. Forgiveness is a shield from which all the fiery darts of the wicked one harmless rebound. Forgiveness brings heaven to earth, and heaven’s peace into the sinful heart. Forgiveness is the image of God, the forgiving Father, and an advancement of Christ’s kingdom in the world.” MacArthur, J. F., Jr. (1985–1989). Matthew (Vol. 3, p. 156). Moody Press.
“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.” Matthew 5:7
16 “But I say, walk by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. 17 For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you do not do the things that you want.” Galatians 5:16–17
Bruce Wilkinson in his book 70x7:
“1. Forgive everyone who may have hurt you purposefully or accidentally.
2. Forgive everyone for every single one of their trespasses.
3. Forgive individuals and groups who caused wound.
4. Forgive individuals who are living or dead as the heart-wound remains.
5. Forgive individuals whether or not they ever apologise.
Bruce Wilkinson in his book 70x7:
6. Forgive individuals whether or not they change their behaviour.
7. Forgive individuals whether or not they make restitution.
8. Forgiving doesn’t mean you accept or condone their actions.
9. Forgiving doesn’t mean you don’t maintain healthy boundaries.
10. Forgiving doesn’t always mean your relationship is restored.
